The Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Virginia Karate Club continues to move forward In Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro's footsteps and is honored to be able to produce the Spring 2009 SRKUSA Newsletter
The Virginia deshi were active this fall and winter.
Sensei Sal, Sensei Joe, Sensei Patrick, Ms. Markowitz, Jonah Markowitz, and Hannah Markowitz traveled to State Collage PA in November to participate in the SRKUSA Fall Northeast Dojo Celebration event hosted by Sensei Kaplan and the Ueshiro Okinawan Family Karate Club. The Club was also well represented for the December blackbelt workout and dinner with Sensei Sal, Sensei Patrick, and Ms Markowitz attending. Sensei Joe represented the Virginia club in February at the Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Florida Karate Weekend.
We hosted an end of year Doshakai on the last Monday in December, 2008. After our regular class workout, we each raised a kompai for renewed spirit, training, vigor, and commitment to our karate and the SRKUSA system. This was followed by an enjoyable meal at a nearby Japanese restaurant.
The Virginia Club also conducted belt testing on February 28th.

The club also welcomed two new deshi in February: Syble Wunder and Josh Roane
Domo Arigato Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro for bringing this special martial style art to the United States. Domo Arigato to Hanshi Robert Scaglione for keeping the rich history, and techniques of our style intact, while growing the SRKUSA system to 29 school locations worldwide.
